William S. Burroughs’ novel was published in 1985, but was originally written between the years of 1951 and 1953, according to Deadline. 

Queer was penned as a sequel to Burroughs’ book, Junkie, which was published in 1953.  

The screenplay will be written by playwright, Justin Kuritzkes, who also wrote the script for Luca Guadagnino’s upcoming sports comedy called, Challengers, starring Zendaya. 

Luca has been attached to previous projects such as the film, Call Me By Your Name (2017), which followed the premise of a romance sparking, ‘between a seventeen-year-old student and the older man hired as his father’s research assistant,’ according toThe movie garnered critical acclaim, and accumulated numerous accolades, such as an Academy Award for Best Writing.  

Daniel recently discussed his decision to step down from the beloved Bond franchise during an interview with  

‘I had genuinely thought I would do one Bond movie, then it would be over. But by then we knew we had a hit on our hands.’ 

After asking the producer how many Bond films he would most likely take part in, he asked Barbara the big question, ‘Then can I kill him off?’ She said, ‘Yes.’ 

After filming his fifth movie in the beloved franchise, he expressed, ‘This is it. I don’t want to do any more.’ 

During an interview with last year in December 2021, Daniel further brushed on the topic of making the decision to kill off his version of Bond, the first time it had been portrayed on the big screen. 

In regards to who could possibly step into the shoes of Bond has yet to be revealed. However, recently reported that Bullet Train actor, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, had taken a screen test for role.
